Brady takes strong lead over Quinn in Illinois Gubernatorial race

(AXcess News) Washington - Republican State Senator Bill Brady Has opened up a 7-point lead over embattled Governor Pat Quinn in Illinois' gubernatorial race, according to a recent Rasmussen poll.

Brady now holds 44% of Illinois voters in his Republican camp versus only 37% who support Quinn, the poll notes.

But with another 20% of Illinois voters either for another candidate (14%) or undecided (9%), whoever throws the biggest block party will most likely win Illinois' gubernatorial race.  Considering the fate of ousted former Governor Blagojevich has tarnished Democrats in general, the Rasmussen pollsters will be unable to weigh in on voter party loyalties in the upcoming election.

Earlier this month, Rasmussen noted that Quinn had pulled within 3 points of the Republican candidate when he announced $1 billion in planned state budget cuts.  But driving doubt amongst Illinois voters has chiseled away at Quinn's chances as state lawmakers argue against some of the cuts proposed in Quinn's budget-cutting plans.

Brady has maintained the lead since early March when he was declared the winner of the state GOP Primary.
